Located near the center of Hue imperial city, Thuy Bieu village is known for its serenity, immense grapefruit gardens and hundreds of years old houses. The name Thuy Bieu may originate from the three sides of Thuy Bieu village surrounded by romantic Perfume River (Thuy means water and Bieu means a gourd).
In March,the thanh trà (a variety of pomelo) village of Thuy Bieu along the Huong river turns into white with the color and fragrance of pure white grapefruit (bưởi) flowers. This gives visitors slower-paced moments to enjoy the values of gifts from the nature.
Those who come to Hue in March should stop in Thuy Bieu and travel freely on the beautiful winding roads. Everywhere is filled with the color and fragrance of grapefruit flowers, as well as a pleasingly rustic ambience that other villages can hardly offer. Then, they will be able to experience being true farmers, working on the fertile soil and gardens of the ancient capital and enjoying the values grapefruit flowers offer.
08h30 Our car and experienced tour guide will pick up you at the city center or your hotel in Hue to depart for Thuy Bieu Village by dragon boat from Toa Kham Wharf. Before coming Thuy Bieu village, our boat stops sightseeing in Thien Mu Pagoda - the oldest pagoda and symbol of Hue city.
10h00 Upon arriving Luong Quan Wharf, you cycle through shady pomelo gardens to the first place of Thuy Bieu eco-tourism village: Luong Quan temple. It is a place of worship of the goddess of the village and is an annual gathering place for the villagers on Tet holidays.
10h30 Continue cycling to visit an ancient garden house which is famous for a hundred years old and is a model house in the local to learn how to make sesame candy or printing paper cake.
11h00 Coming to learn more about daily life at incense making house, an extra job outside of the agricultural work. Stop visiting a silk painting family to see countryside painting art of the young local artists. The paintings here mainly reflect an aspiration for a peaceful, happy and prosperous life and often depict the animals in people’s lives.
12h00 Enjoy a local lunch in the garden. Dishes are made from local fresh ingredients by skillful women. Then take a rest.
12h30 You learn how to make pomelo skin jam under the guidance of the house owner. Then you can do it by yourself and enjoy what you make. The owner gives you a pack of pomelo jam.
13h00 It's time to relax your feet with 30 minutes of herbal foot bath.
